Investigate how you will benefit from foam roofing

It is straightforward to install – with a minimum of disruption to customers, employees and visitors. Foam roofing is sprayed on as a liquid and dries to a strong, seamless and energy efficient coating.

  1. Your existing roof is cleaned and specially prepared
  2. An inch to an inch-and-a-half of polyurethane foam is applied
  3. A base coat goes on, and then a top coat is applied to the new surface
  4. There is no small “army” of installers disrupting business
  5. You are saving money immediately because there is no need for tear-off and disposal of your old roof.

Foam roofing is applied directly to your existing roof, which has been refurbished to become the base of your new roof.

Installation is quicker because there is no tear off, which keeps labor costs down. Plus, foam requires no metal flashing to be installed around HVAC equipment, vents or other roof obstacles.

A long-lasting roof with lasting savings: Many manufacturers offer ten year warranties, or more. The roof is longer-lasting than that. If your goal is to delay roof replacement, you make the goal and push that expense far into the future. If you’ve chosen it as a “green” upgrade, the years of service ensure the roof will be maintenance free long enough to “pay you back” in utility savings.

About the energy-efficiency

  • Foam roofing has very high reflectivity, which means it bounces away so much of the sun’s energy that it can pay for itself in lowered cooling costs in as little as four to seven years. It forms a seamless, top-grade insulation of your structure that keeps out summer heat and negates heat loss in winter. This is year-round energy efficiency.
  • Several products are ENERGY STAR rated, giving you the potential of claiming tax benefits when you retro-fit an existing roof.

A seamless barrier to leaks
A standard single-ply roof has hundreds of feet of seams and hundreds of fasteners which have the potential to leak. Foam roofing is virtually leak-proof, because there are no fasteners and no breaks in the coating. There is no place for water to get through.

Another plus: the sprayed coating dries to what’s called “closed cell form”. If, for instance, a tree fell in a storm and breached the coating, any leakage would remain localized.

Other significant features

  • If hail or a falling branch damages foam roofing, it is easily repaired and restored to its seamless look and leak-resistant form.
  • Foam is lightweight, so it generally does not exceed the load capacity of your structure. In fact, it adds tensile strength to your structure.
  • It’s a great “look” for a commercial building as well as institutional structures such as churches and libraries. It is even possible to add granules to the top coat, giving your roof a textured look similar to asphalt tile.
